    Rebecca

Hi, my name is Rebecca and I am 24 years old. I live in Riverside CA, which is an hour away from LA. I came to YWAM LA because I knew there was much more to life than just serving in church, getting a good job with my Bachelor's degree, and wanting to get married and start a family. My purpose for coming to YWAM was to grow in my relationship with God and to share His love with others. This is exactly what I am doing and I have never felt so alive. I have a passion for children and singing. I also love to go out to eat and spend time with my family. And a fun fact about me is that I love to pick at my split ends.

Hey! My name is Eric. I am 18 years old, and I’m from Minnesota. I came right from high school since encountering the presence of God during my senior year, and since being here I’ve really connected with the spirit and in walking with Him.
Through opening the door to the spiritual realm, I’ve been able to connect with my real being and creativity and feel truly alive through film photography, music, and writing. I enjoy thrift/record shopping, documentaries, road trips, and coffee. Fun fact I can play xo tour life on the ukulele.

    Mikayla

Hey guys! My name is Mikayla, I'm 22 years old and I live close to the Capital of Alberta Canada (Go oilers!!) Since I've graduated High school, I've had my fair share of jobs from being a server, barista, and here and there customer service jobs. My absolute passion since I was a kid has been kids camp (Camp Nakamun), and for the past 3 years I have been paid staff over the summer to be a camp counselor. So going into this DTS felt so right, and I'm so excited where God will lead us as a team, and how our faith will grow. Looking forward to take on this adventure with my fellow mates. I really love adrenaline anything from dirt biking, long boarding, snow boarding, bungee jumping, cliff jumping, anything that makes my heart race so quickly.

    Meet our contact in Kenya

Hi, My name is Bob de Groot. For the past 6 years I have been living in Kenya, Africa. But really for the last 13 years I have been on the pursuit to chase the dream, that I believe God has given me.

My dream is to help take care of the orphans by educating families in business management and creating financial platforms where they can access financial assistance. By doing this we help families to become more financially stable and with that are able to provide for their family and prevent their children of becoming orphan. But also if needed to help those around them.

As I mentioned I have spend a lot of time preparing myself before coming to Kenya. Before coming to Kenya I was with YWAM in Los Angeles. Did a DTS, SOMD, and became staff. This created a great bond between me and YWAM LA, that still is going on to this date.
Every year I host a team from LA, and introduce them to missions. The team partners with different organizations and programs, they help the locals in where their need is all the while getting challenged in their view on the world. They get exposed to poverty and situations where most people would never think of. Because I have been living now in both worlds, I can help direct them to a place of understanding. I love seeing people come in and get a new view on how this world is, and who we can be in it.

My all around goal with my ministry, hosting teams, living in both worlds and the connections with people, is to show them that their dreams are worth pursuing. You have dreams for a reason, but our cultures muffle the call. Is it easy? No, it gets hard, but to achieve anything in life you will need a dream and dedication.
Hopefully people get inspired by what I do, because imagine if we all start living accordingly to what we are designed to live for?
